About Time
Maturing with each experience
We all wish we had a second chance from time to time. Sometimes, when we are trying to keep it together, there are people around us who seem to get unlimited second chances.
But what if we got a chance to do it all over again?
In the movie About Time, the main protagonist, Tim, learns from his father that the men in their family have the ability to go back in time, but only for moments they have already lived.
Of course, for anyone, this information would take time to process.
At first, he uses these abilities to fix things that have gone wrong in his own life, like dates that weren’t quite as good as intended and needed a do-over, giving himself a chance to not make a fool of himself and win the girl.
Then, we see some personal growth as he begins to use his time travel abilities to help others, even if it might cost him something.
As he gets older, he starts to repeat his days after the kids go to sleep, looking for ways to relive hard moments, but maybe with a better sense of humor about it. Eventually, he stops reliving each day, preferring to intentionally live each moment at its best, no matter what may happen. He learns that we can’t avoid the hard moments; we just have to make the most of them.
